I've been a long time reader but this is my first post. DaVinci Resolve is a cool and powerful product that I've tested and fiddled around with for a few times. But I never actually worked on a real project with it. I'm a technician, not an editor.
We work in a windows environment (still Win7 64 Bit) with Avid MC8. We also have Adobe CS on some machines.
Davinci Resolve 11 System Requirements
In the current situation we are thinking about buying some laptops for editing that shall be used with DaVinci Resolve 16 (Free Version and / or Studio version) in combination with the Adobe CS products (mostly Premiere and AE). Our main workflow is HD based, sometimes we film in 4K to zoom in later in the post production. Codecs are mostly AVCHD and DNxHD120, but others may also be used.
When it comes to making a decision what hardware to buy I'm not quite satisfied with the 'Minimum system requirements for Windows' that you will find on the main page as it does not mention the
different resolutions, codecs and frame rates. The official support document is from 2018. Additionally I haven't read any official info

whether or not the GPU is used in the free version.So, for a workflow as described above, would you recommend:
- 16 or 32 GB RAM
- A graphic card with 6 GB VRAM oder more (or even less???)
- Is the GPU a critical component when working with the
free version
?As I am a big fan of Lenovo business laptops I would prefer them to a 'cheap' but powerful gaming laptop. But when you add a video card like the NVDIA Quadro RTX 3000 or similar to your config to a machine you easily end up in the region around € 3.000.
Any helpful information is appreciated

I'm considering downloading the Resolve 11 lite beta, but I'm not sure about some of the requirements listed for it. I'm ok on how much RAM to get and my NVidia driver is up to date.
I don't know what the Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 9.9.3 or later refers to. Is it the same as the Blackmagic Camera Utility?
